CONNOR – Henry Merchant, 90, passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at his residence, with his family at his side. He was born July 8, 1918, in Leominster, Mass., the son of Joseph and Regina (Brough) Merchant. Henry worked for many years for area farmers and also as a logger, and loved to fish when he had the opportunity. He is survived by six children, Eugene Merchant of Clarksville, Tenn., Leon Merchant and his wife, Nancy, of Caribou, Carolyn Nadeau and her husband, Gary, of Attleboro, Mass., David Merchant of Cheyenne, Wyo., Henry “Hank” Merchant of Camden, and Susan Merchant of Connor; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. He also leaves behind a brother, Elmer Merchant of Jefferson, Mass.; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Gertrude (Damboise) Merchant; several brothers and sisters. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev.
