BANGOR, Maine — A Glenburn man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for sexually assaulting two minor female relatives, now 13 and 15, over a three-year period.

Harold S. Ramsey Jr., 38, was sentenced on Nov. 13 in Penobscot County Superior Court after pleading guilty a few days earlier to 16 counts of gross sexual assault and three counts of unlawful sexual contact.

He was indicted in August by a Penobscot County grand jury on 22 counts of gross sexual assault and 22 counts of unlawful sexual contact.

Ramsey faced up to 30 years in prison on the gross sexual assault charges.

The assaults took place over a three-year period and involved two victims, Michael Roberts, deputy district attorney for Penobscot County, said in August when Ramsey’s indictment was announced.

Roberts referred to the case as “interfamilial.” He declined to release more details to prevent identification of the victims.

One of the victims and her mother addressed Superior Court Justice Joseph Jabar before he imposed the sentence, according to court documents.
