RONALD E. DINSMORE ‘MIKE’

BREWER and LUBEC – Ronald “Mike” E. Dinsmore, 92, passed away Feb. 17, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Jan. 5, 1917, in Trescott, the son of Erman and Edna Dinsmore. As a young man, he worked as an electrician in Lubec and on several construction sites in Maine. He was a past member of the I.O.O.F., Lubec. In 1956 he moved to Portland where he lived for 40 years. He was employed by Maine State Boy’s Training Center, South Portland. He loved working in his garden, being with his grandchildren and was a great step dancer at family parties. Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Muriel Marston Dinsmore; his daughters, Gloria Wasson of Brewer, and Carol Campbell and husband, Terry, of Winterport; two brothers, Carroll Dinsmore and wife, Carolyn, of Lubec, and Glen Dinsmore and wife, Barbara, of Leominster, Mass.; three sisters, Marjorie Novatoski and husband, Edward, of Manchester, Conn., Helen Morang of Portland, and Faye Denbow of Cedar Park, Texas; sister-in-law, Hilda Dinsmore of Enfield, Conn.; five grandchildren, Karyn, John, Julie, Harold and Mike; 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Kenneth Dinsmore of Enfield, Conn.; and one sister, Hazel Lingley of Whiting. Family and friends are invited to visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at East Orrington Congregational Church, 38 Johnson Mill Road, Orrington, with the Rev. Carl Schreiber, pastor, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mike’s memory may be made to East Orrington Congregational Church, 38 Johnson Mill Road, Orrington, ME 04474.
