DEXTER, Maine — A local man was arrested late Friday night and charged with furnishing a place for minors to consume liquor.

Shawn Nickerson, 18, of Denny Drive was released on personal recognizance bail after his arrest. He is expected to make his initial court appearance March 25 in Newport District Court, according to Cpl. Alan Grinnell of the Dexter Police Department.

Two men and a 17-year-old girl, who allegedly were at Nickerson’s home, also were charged in connection with the case. Emery Glidden, 19, of Exeter was charged with illegal possession of liquor by a minor, and Joshua Corson, 19, of Dexter was charged with possessing a usable amount of marijuana, illegal possession of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia, Grinnell said. Both are expected to make their initial court appearance on March 25 in Newport District Court.

Grinnell said the girl was charged with illegal possession of liquor by a minor and was referred to juvenile authorities.

The department is focusing on underage drinking for the safety of juveniles, Grinnell said.
