BANGOR, Maine — They may not have been as pretty as both coaches would have liked, but both the top-seeded Camden Hills boys and the No. 5 Hermon Hawks still made it look easy en route to Eastern Maine Class B tournament quarterfinal wins.
The unbeaten Camden Hills Windjammers stayed that way with a 72-41 victory over No. 9 Maranacook of Readfield late Saturday afternoon and Hermon used stifling defensive pressure to defeat No. 13 Foxcroft Academy 47-22 in an earlier game at the Bangor Auditorium.
In the first game, Taylor Gross was Mr. Outside and Andrew Ball was Mr. Inside for the Hawks as Gross hit five 3-pointers for 15 points and Ball grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.
No Foxcroft player scored more than five points.
In the later game, seniors Gordon Fischer and Kiefer Lammi teamed up to account for 31 points and 16 rebounds to lead the 19-0 Windjammers.
Ben Johnson led the Black Bears with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Camden and Hermon will meet in an 8:35 p.m. semifinal clash Wednesday.
