SEARSMONT, Maine — A local couple was arrested for violating their probation after police discovered drugs at their residence Tuesday.
Alan Talgo, 29, and Katie Matthews, 21, each were charged with marijuana cultivation, trafficking in scheduled drugs and possession of scheduled drugs along with violating their probation.
Waldo County Sheriff’s Detective Merl Reed, Deputy Ben Seekins and Maine Drug Enforcement Agency agent Allen Weaver discovered the drugs during a probation check at the couple’s residence.
When they arrived there, the officers found three marijuana plants growing in the couple’s bedroom. A drug-detecting dog located a locked box in a closet that contained four plastic bags of individually wrapped marijuana. Also found was a cigarette package with pieces of an amphetamine that Talgo admitted were his. Mat-thews was found to be concealing six amphetamine pills on her person.
The couple was taken to the Waldo County Jail, where they are being held without bail.
