HARTLAND, Maine – Somerset County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating an armed home invasion and robbery that was reported shortly after midnight on Route 23 in Hartland.

According to Det. Sgt. Carl Gottardi III, two men forcibly entered a residence and stole several articles. The men used clothing to conceal their faces and were armed. Although Gottardi would not release details of what weapons were used, one victim in the home, an adult male, received a laceration during an altercation with the robbers and was later taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital for treatment.

There were three people in the home at the time of the robbery, Gottardi said, and the victims were threatened to turn over specific items that the robbers were seeking. He would not confirm that the victims were familiar with the robbers.

Gottardi said three detectives and five deputies responded to the robbery and a sheriff’s office K-9 attempted to track the perpetrators. “Evidence was discovered,” Gottardi said, declining to go into further detail.

Gottardi said he expects much more information to be available later today on this case as well as possible arrests.
