At Presque Isle, Brennen Shaw netted four goals and two assists to attain the 100th point of his career as Presque Isle shut out Hampden. Dylan Collins tallied four goals and three assists while Mitch Davis posted two goals and three assists for Presque Isle. Isaac Lajoie finished with a goal and four assists while Jason Martin, Josh Buck and Steve Ford each added a goal. Nic Davis and Josh MacFarline combined to stop all 15 shots for the 7-6-3 Wildcats. In Saturday’s first game, Ashley Waters hit two doubles and knocked in two runs for Maine to back the four-hit pitching of Jenna Balent. Terren Hall had a double, single and three RBIs. Courtney Gingrich and Kali Burnham also had RBIs. Amanda Miller hit a solo home run for Campbell. In Saturday’s second game, Tennessee Tech scored five runs in the fourth inning to capture the win. Cassidy Skeen and Jordan Leff both had an RBI and a single. Waters hit a two-run homer in the third inning for the Bears. Hall doubled and singled with an RBI and Kristen Calvetti singled twice. In Sunday’s game, Hillary Hughes hit an RBI single in the eighth inning to give Troy the win. Troy added two more runs. Heidi Johnson tripled and singled with an RBI. Ashlyn Williams allowed two runs on three hits, three walks and hit one batter while striking out 13 through eight innings for Troy. Alexis Souhlaris homered and singled with two RBIs for Maine. Hall singled and scored.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

UMFK keeps streak alive

The University of Maine-Fort Kent pushed its winning streak to 10 games over the weekend, beating UMaine-Augusta 78-72 on Saturday and downing UMaine-Machias 70-62 Sunday. At Augusta on Saturday, the Bengals outscored the Moose 43-37 in the second half to claim victory. Brandon Fox led the Bengals with 24 points. Hamill Bassue had 23 points and 12 rebounds and Othniel Hyliger added 16 points. Deon Cheer scored 21 points for UM-Augusta. Herbert Davis scored 17 points, James Ayotte scored 13 and Lawrence Williams 10. At Machias on Sunday, the Bengals held the Clippers to 35 percent shooting to avenge an earlier Sunrise Conference loss. Bassue paced UMFK with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Fox scored 13 points and Ilija Kalajdzic added 12. Zach Armstrong led UMaine-Machias with 16 points. Gerardo Vasquez posted 12 points.

Fisher 58, UM-Machias 55

At Machias, Louis Armstrong banked in a 3-pointer at the buzzer Saturday to give Fisher College the win over the University of Maine-Machias. Brandon Hamilton led Fisher with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Williams scored 13 points and Stephen Rice added 12 points. Zach Armstrong scored 13 points to lead the Clippers.

UM-Augusta 97, UMPI 93

At Presque Isle, Deon Cheers had a triple-double with 31 points, 17 rebounds and 12 assists Sunday to lead the University of Maine-Augusta to a narrow victory over UM-Presque Isle. Herbert Davis scored 20 points for UM-Augusta. Lawrence Williams had 17 points and 15 rebounds. James Ayotte also scored 17 points and Philip Ellis had 10 points. Devon Peaslee led UMPI with 27 points, eight assists and four steals. Anthony Wingate scored 22 points, Jeremy Brock had 13 points and nine rebounds, Loren Fawthrop had 12 points and nine rebounds and Jordan Guy scored 10 points.

ECSU 65, Southern Maine 50

At Willimantic, Conn., Edwin Ortiz scored 16 points Saturday to lead Eastern Connecticut State University over the University of Southern Maine of Gorham. Courtney Simmons and Nick Nedwick had 10 points each for ECSU. Greg Whitaker led the Huskies with 16 points. Andy Tracy scored 12 points and Mike Poulin added 11 points.

Bates 54, Trinity 53

At Lewiston, Marshall Hatch had a tip-in to beat the buzzer Saturday and give Bates College the win over Trinity College of Hartford, Conn. Nick Schmiemann led Bates with 16 points while Chris Wilson scored 15 points. Aaron Westbrooks scored 11 points for Trinity and Paul Rowe added 10 points.

Thomas 78, Husson 72

At Waterville, Shawn Rodgers had 19 points and nine rebounds Saturday to push Thomas College past Husson University of Bangor. Andrew Duncanson scored 18 points for the Terriers. Isaiah Brathwaite had 14 points and Darrell Alexander scored 12. Matt McKenzie paced the Eagles with 19 points. Jay Uhrin and Blaine Meehan had 12 points apiece while Nick Perras scored 11 points and Brock Bradford chipped in 10 points.

Saint Joseph’s 70, Mount Ida 58

At Standish, Elbie Murphy had 16 points Saturday to lead Saint Joseph’s College to victory over Mount Ida. Scot Vachon had 15 points and five assists for the Monks while Ray Eatmon chipped in 16 rebounds and nine points. Darren Martinez scored 15 points for Mount Ida. Matt Bennett had 10 points.

Bowdoin 76, Williams 71

At Williamstown, Mass., Kyle Jackson scored 22 points Saturday as Bowdoin College of Brunswick topped Williams. Mark Phillips scored 15 points for Bowdoin and Tim Lane added 11 points. Blake Schultz had 24 points and nine rebounds for Williams. Kevin Snyder scored 13 points.

UM-Farmington 54, MMA 37

At Farmington, Ted Neil scored 16 points Saturday to lift the University of Maine-Farmington over Maine Maritime Academy. Josh Tanguay scored 12 points for UM-Farmington and Eric Taylor snared 15 rebounds. Derek DiFrederico led the Mariners with 11 points.

EMCC splits

Eastern Maine Community College split a pair of weekend games, defeating Southern Maine Community College 105-103 in overtime on Saturday and losing to Vermont Technical College 100-80 on Sunday. In Saturday’s game at South Portland, Billy Smith scored a layup with three seconds left in overtime to lift EMCC to the win. Ben Maloney tallied 25 points and 15 rebounds. Eric Helms scored 18 points while Adam Knowles added 13 for the Golden Eagles. Colman Findlay led SMCC with 37 points and 13 rebounds. In Sunday’s game at Randolph Center, Vt., Sean Smith scored a game-high 30 points to lead Vermont Tech. Maloney paced EMCC with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Brandon Tomah scored 18 points while Billy Smith chipped in with 13.

Husson 87, Thomas 75

At Waterville, Ashley Bragdon and Bree Hanscom scored 17 points each Saturday to lead Husson University past Thomas College. Shelby Bradford scored 11 points for the Eagles and Bethany Sevey added 10 points. Cortney Barrett led Thomas with 18 points. Kellie Martel scored 16 points and Amy Miles posted 12. Mallorie Blakney had 11 points and Lynn Chaisson added 10.

UM-Farmington 60, MMA 49

At Farmington, Brittany York and Caitlyn Laflin finished with 16 points each Saturday to propel the University of Maine-Farmington past Maine Maritime Academy of Castine. Erin Porter grabbed 10 rebounds for the Beavers, who forced the Mariners into 26 turnovers. Samantha Goda paced Maine Maritime with 15 points. Maggie Smith scored 12 points while Tatum Welch added 11.

Vermont Tech 53, EMCC 43

At Randolph, Vt., on Sunday, Virginia Purrier scored 19 points and Stacey Corey added 11 points to lead Vermont Tech. Jessica Brown paced Eastern Maine Community College of Bangor with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Nikki Kaulback scored 14 points and Theresa Spieldenner added 12 points and 14 rebounds.

UM-Fort Kent wins two

The University of Maine-Fort Kent claimed a pair of victories over the weekend with a 67-47 win over the University of Maine-Augusta on Saturday and an 80-41 victory over the University of Maine-Machias on Sunday. In Saturday’s game at Fort Kent, Talisha Herring scored 22 points to lead the Bengals. Kristin Violette added 20 points. Jen Lola scored 25 points to pace UM-Augusta. In Sunday’s game at Machias, Herring scored a game-high 26 points to propel UMFK. Violette scored 18 points while Ashley Ames added 13 for the Bengals. Carilla Fritz led UM-Machias with 14 points.

UMPI 65, UM-Augusta 65

At Presque Isle, the University of Maine-Presque Isle outscored the University of Maine-Augusta 35-19 in the second half to capture the win Sunday. Erica Davis had 21 points, 24 rebounds and five steals to lead UMPI. Megan Korhonen had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Karen Creighton added 13 points and 11 rebounds and Emily Moore scored 11 points. Jennifer Lola paced UM-Augusta with 25 points, 12 rebounds and eight steals. Lola also made 17 of her 20 free throw attempts. Jessica Taylor chipped in 11 points.

ECSU 68, Southern Maine 65

At Willimantic, Conn., senior Christina Amato scored the final five points of the game Saturday as Eastern Connecticut State rallied to beat the University of Southern Maine. Jessica Moriarty scored 20 points for Eastern Connecticut and Nicky Morey added 15. Stacey Kent led the Huskies of Gorham with 24 points and four steals. Kaylie DeMillo scored 14 points and Kristi Violette added eight points and nine rebounds.

Bowdoin 91, Williams 58

At Brunswick, Katie Bergeron scored 22 points and had five steals Saturday to lead Bowdoin College past Williams. Alexa Kaubris scored 12 points for Bowdoin. Leah Rubega had 11 points and Jill Henrikson chipped in 10 points. Taylor Shea led Williams with 20 points.

SJC Monks 59, SJC Blue Jays 43

At West Hartford, Conn., Meghan Daigle scored 22 points and posted 12 rebounds Saturday to lead Saint Joseph’s College of Standish by Saint Joseph’s College of Connecticut. Kayla Nowell netted 15 points while Ashley Geel added 10 for the Monks. Ilaria Schiano paced the Blue Jays with 10 points.

Bates 68, Trinity 54

At Hartford, Conn., Val Beckwith posted 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead Bates College of Lewiston past Trinity. Lauren Yanofsky, Maggie DePoy and Christine McCall each chipped in with nine points for the Bobcats. Molly McGlynn paced Trinity with a game-high 15 points.

Colby 62, Middlebury 45

At Waterville, Julianne Kowalski tallied a game-high 18 points and 12 rebounds to spark Colby by Middlebury College. Alison Cappelloni finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds while Rachael Mack added 12 points for the Mules. Lauren Sanchez led Middlebury with 13 points.

WOMEN’S ICE HOCKEY

Boston College sweeps Maine

At Chestnut Hill, Mass., Kelli Stack scored two goals and assisted on another Sunday as Boston College beat the University of Maine 6-2. The Eagles shut out the Black Bears 2-0 on Saturday. On Saturday, Meghan Fardelmann and Allie Thunstrom scored third-period goals for the Eagles. Molly Schaus stopped all 13 shots she faced. Genevieve Turgeon turned away 27 of 29 shots for the 5-21-3 Black Bears. On Sunday, Mary Restuccia had a goal and two assists for the 19-7-3 Eagles. Maggie Taverna and Fardelmann both had a goal and an assist. Danielle Welch also scored. Schaus and Kiera Kingston combined for 18 saves off 20 shots. Jennie Gallo scored in the second period for UMaine off assists from Vanessa Vani and Myriam Croussette. Jenna Ouellette scored with an assist from Ashley Norum in the third. Turgeon saved 21 of 27 shots.
