ATKINSON, Maine — Two Dover-Foxcroft men were arrested Monday in connection with a break-in Sunday night at Snow’s AG and Saw Shop in Atkinson.

Ernest McIntosh and Jeffery P. Harrison, both 18, were arrested and charged with burglary.

The pair left behind thousands of dollars’ worth of chain saws and other new equipment but took a cash register containing about $40 in coins and four cartons of cigarettes, according to Sgt. Michael Gould of the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department, who was assisted by investigators Guy Dow and Dave Wilson. Entry was gained through a window, Gould said.

Sunday’s break-in was similar in pattern to other burglaries in Piscataquis County in recent days, according to Gould.

The department is investigating break-ins earlier this month at Herring Brothers Store in Guilford and Countryside Meat Market in Dover-Foxcroft. The burglars did several hundred dollars in vandalism inside Herring Brothers Store and took money from the Dover-Foxcroft store. Entry into each of the businesses was through a window.

Dover-Foxcroft Police Chief Dennis Dyer assisted the Sheriff’s Department in its probe of the Atkinson break-in.
