Dover-Foxcroft’s Fashion Bug to close

By Diana Bowley, BDN Staff

DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — The Fashion Bug store in town will close at the end of April, a victim of the poor economy.

“We have announced a number of stores companywide that are closing that are not meeting our financial objectives and this store is on that list,” said Gayle Coolick, vice president of investor relations for Charming Shoppes. Charming Shoppes operates Fashion Bug, Catherines and Lane Bryant.

In Maine, the company operates 14 Fashion Bug stores, one Catherines store and three Lane Bryant stores, Coolick said. The only store to be closed in Maine is the Dover-Foxcroft store, she said.

A going-out-of-business sale started Jan. 30 and will continue until the closing in late April.

Coolick said the store has five employees, both part-time and full-time.
