Republican Harvell wins in House District 89

FARMINGTON, Maine — Republican Lance Harvell of Farmington has won a special legislative election in House 89.

Harvell took 1,295 votes to 617 for Democrat Dennis Haszko on Tuesday in the towns Farmington and Industry.

The special election was called to fill a seat left vacant after Janet Mills was chosen as Maine’s new attorney general

Despite Harvell’s victory, Democrats will maintain a sizable majority in the Legislature.
