CARMEL – Allen Jay White, 72, died unexpectedly Feb. 2, 2009. He was born May 14, 1936, in Searsport, the son of Joseph O. and Maxine E. White. Allen was employed for 46 years with Bangor and Aroostook Railroad. He attended Calvary Chapel, Orrington. Allen enjoyed gardening, reading and photography. He was a man with a strong faith and enjoyed his membership with the Promise Keepers. Allen was a man who loved people and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years, Shirley White of Carmel; three daughters, Lee Anne Small and her husband, Richard, of Schoodic Lake and Naples, Fla., Renee Searway-Targon and her husband, Norm Targon, of Glenburn, Stacy Smith and her husband, Jamie, of Bradford; grandchildren, Heather Small, Justin and Donnie Searway and Joshua Smith; stepgrandson, Tyler Smith; great-grandchildren, Kaidence Dorr, Aiden, Ashton and Aubrey Searway; and many special friends. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Elliott; and a son-in-law, Donnie Searway. Relatives and friends are invited to call 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, with the Rev. Ken Graves, pastor of Calvary Chapel, Orrington, officiating. Spring interment will be at Birch Grove Cemetery, Glenburn.
