Bangor police have arrested three men in connection with a string of robberies from Bangor Mall-area businesses last week.

On Thursday, two men reportedly stole several thousand dollars’ worth of merchandise from the Best Buy, Toys “R” Us and Target stores located near the Bangor Mall. In each case, the suspects grabbed a large amount of merchandise — sometimes stuffing it into a box or large bag — and then fled the store.

On Friday evening, Kmart employees reported a similar incident in which a suspect made off with several hundred dollars’ worth of merchandise in a trash can, according to the Bangor Police Department.

Working on a tip, Officer Tim Shaw and others began investigating an address on Court Street. A search warrant was secured, and as officers were approaching the location, a beige car that matched the description of one sighted fleeing the stores pulled up, Sgt. Paul Edwards of the Bangor Police Department stated in a press re-lease.

Edwards said that one of the car’s occupants, 26-year-old Justin Clark of Bangor, jumped out of the car after spotting Officer Dan Herrick, who initially pursued the suspect on foot but opted to secure any evidence in the car.

The release states that Clark was later spotted getting into the passenger side of a car on Hammond Street. Officers stopped the car and arrested Clark, charging him with Class C felony theft.

Another suspect who also fled the car on Court Street, 25-year-old Timothy Woods of Bangor, later was stopped and arrested. Justin Clark’s brother Joshua was arrested at the Court Street address after allegedly trying to run up the stairwell, according to Edwards.

Woods and Joshua Clark, 23, also were charged with felony theft.

Edwards stated that police have recovered some of the alleged stolen property, but warned that anyone who may have received stolen goods from the men should turn it in to police to avoid possible charges.
