BANGOR and LINCOLN – Walter Bennett Windsor, 81, died unexpectedly Jan. 28, 2009, surrounded by family, at the Maine Veterans’ Home. He was born March 24, 1927, in Winn, to Walter B. and Ruth (Farrington) Windsor Sr. Walter was his happiest when he was trading guns, junking and hanging out with his cronies at McDonald’s. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Bertha (Inman); and his sister, Ruthie Dysart. He is survived by two sons, Roger B. and his wife, Laurene, and Kirk B. and his wife, Pauline, of Lincoln; three daughters, Karlene “Karly” Windsor of Coral Springs, Fla., Darlene and husband, Fred Weymouth II, of LaGrange, and Sherri Windsor and partner, Mike MacArthur, of Bangor; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Morton M. Windsor and his wife, Erika, of Palm Bay, Fla.; and sister, Marilyn Curtis of Orono. He leaves behind his wife, Irene (Arsenault) and her family. His daughter, Darlene, takes this opportunity to thank the staff at the Machias and Bangor veterans’ homes for the loving, compassionate care that they provided for their “Duke of Windsor” for the past three years. Because of them, he leaves this world with honor and dignity.
