PATTEN, Maine – Crews are battling a fire on Main Street that was formerly Patten’s primary school.

A couple with their four or five children moved in and renovated it into a home, and actually had it up for sale, according to a neighbor, Karen McGraw.

She said the couple took the dogs to the vet today in Houlton and while they were gone, their house burned. The fire department was still there at 4 p.m.
