VAN BUREN – Alfred Violette, 80, died Jan. 24, 2009, at his residence in Van Buren. He was born May 29, 1928, in Van Buren, the son of Fred F. and Catherine M. (Martin) Violette. He worked for Bangor & Aroostook Railroad and later he and his wife owned and operated Al’s Neighborhood Store for many years. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Homerine (Cyr) Violette of Van Buren; two sons, Gary Violette and his wife, Sandi, of Willow Park, Texas, and Gregory Violette and his wife, Tracy, of Bangor; five daughters, Judy Violette and her partner, Stephen Crowley, of West Bath, Pamela Michaud and her husband, Kenneth, of Van Buren, Sharon Bolduc and her husband, Jay, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Margo Redden and her husband, Jerry, of Mountain City, Tenn., and Lolita Cyr and her husband, Glenn, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Shanda and Shayla Violette, Samuel Desjardins, Tony and Dennis Michaud, Heidi and Blake Bolduc, Amber Hatfield and her husband, Kevin, and Crystal and Emelynn Violette; and one great-grandson, Matthew Torre. He is also survived by two bothers, George Violette of Van Buren and Robert Violette of Hamlin; four sisters, Cecile Violette, Eva Nunley and Shirley Violette, all of Van Buren and Aline Deese of Fruitedale, Ala.; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Omer Violette and Nelson Violette; and by four sisters, Giberte Pasko, Rita Bergen, Jeannette Lint and Freda Cyr. At his request, there will be no calling hours. Services will be held at a later date.
