ALTHEA G. (LEATHERS) MCLAUGHLIN

GEORGETOWN, Mass. – Althea G. (Leathers) McLaughlin, 93, formerly of Orrington, beloved wife of the late Roy A. McLaughlin, passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport, Mass. She was born Aug. 25, 1915, in Orrington, daughter of the late James C. and Gertrude E. (Smith) Leathers. She graduated from Brewer High School and in later years, she was employed by Emple Knitting Mills, Bangor and Brewer. She was a member of Second Congregational Church of Brewer. After retirement she spent a lot of time in San Francisco with her sister. They were avid travelers to places like the Cook Islands, Fiji and Raratunga, and several times to the Hawaiian Islands and Alaska. She is survived by her daughter, Marlene Apprich and her husband, Robert, of Georgetown, Mass.; grandchildren, Robert Apprich II and wife, Elizabeth, of Danville, N.H., Theresa Camacho and husband, Edwin, of Haverhill, Mass., Angela and husband, Scott Kimball, of Salisbury, Mass., Laurel and husband, Dr. Peter Dimatteo, of Duxbury, Mass.; and great-grandchildren, Shannon Dow, Molly and Nolan Kimball of Salisbury, Mass., Travis Apprich of Danville, N.H., Edwin Camacho Jr. of Haverhill, Mass., and Ali, Michael and Olivia Dimatteo of Duxbury, Mass. She is also survived by special nieces and nephews, Evelene Fuller of Searsmont, Patricia Huntington of Dedham, Ronald Leathers of Avon, Conn., Paul Leathers of Courtland, Va., Sandra Thomas of Altamonte Springs, Fla., Alan Leathers of Cape Elizabeth, Donna Hay of Lecanto, Fla., Marilyn Getman of Lyme, Conn., James Leathers of Troy, Ill., Arlene Bowman of Palmer, Ark., and Linda Lawson of San Francisco. She was predeceased by her brothers, Wallace, Wilber, Elmore and Frank Leathers; and sisters, Ella Day and Evelyn Peters. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at a later time in Orrington. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Merton E.
