ROCKLAND, Maine — The Knox County Sheriff’s Department arrested a father and son last week on sex charges stemming from their alleged contact with an underage female.
Chief Deputy Ernie McIntosh said Monday that the father, Michael Roman Jr., 41, of Union, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of attempted gross sexual assault.
As of Monday night, he remained at Knox County Jail in Rockland, unable to make bail of $15,000 cash or $75,000 surety, a jail official confirmed.
The elder Roman is scheduled to appear in court in April.
The son, Michael Roman III, 22, of Cushing, was arrested Thursday on a charge of unlawful sexual contact, McIntosh said. He was released later the same day after posting bail, set at $5,000 cash.
The younger Roman has been scheduled to appear in court on March 25, a jail official said.
Knox County law enforcement officials were releasing few details about the case this week.
McIntosh said Monday that the Romans remain under investigation and that additional charges could be forthcoming.
