Somerset County grand jury hands up 15 indictments

SKOWHEGAN, Maine — The Somerset County grand jury returned indictments this week against 15 individuals, including a Fairfield man accused of unlawful sexual contact with two girls, one under age 12 and the other younger than 14.

John Spencer, 65, was indicted on four counts of unlawful sexual contact. He also was recently indicted by the Kennebec County grand jury on five similar counts, also involving girls under the age of 12. If convicted, Spencer could face up to 10 years in prison on each charge. Spencer has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Also indicted by the Somerset County grand jury were Travis S. Barrett, 20, of Augusta, and Kenneth W. Mitchell, 21, of Waterville. Each was indicted on 10 charges of burglary, theft and criminal mischief that allegedly occurred between October and November of last year in Fairfield and Norridgewock.

Other indictments include:

ä Peter Gordon, 39, Madison, two counts each of burglary and theft.

ä Michael B. Boothby, 23, Anson, OUI, operating after suspension, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and eluding a police officer.

ä Alan Barnes, 18, Albion, gross sexual assault of someone under the age of 14.

ä William Tolman, 54, New Portland, aggravated assault with an ax handle.

ä Randy Rowell, 47, Harmony, criminal operating under the influence.

ä Denver Russell Davis, 46, Waterville, operating after revocation.

ä Scott J. Parker, 34, Skowhegan, failure to report to jail on a forgery conviction and violation of bail.

ä Robert Marshall, 23, Madison, burglary, theft of tools and criminal mischief.

ä Jeffrey F. Horton, 29, New Portland, trafficking in the drug Ecstasy.

ä Tyler Grossman, 26, Westbrook, trafficking in the drug Ecstasy.

ä Shawn Schwotzer, 26, Manchester, N.H., and Hassan Ahmed Hood, 27, Norwood, Mass., each indicted on three counts of drug trafficking, two counts of possession of drugs, furnishing drugs and conspiracy to traffic in drugs, involving cocaine, Ecstasy and marijuana, as well as criminal forfeiture of $8,521 in alleged drug money.

ä Joshua J. Woodbury, 30, Anson, criminal threatening with a hammer, assault, domestic violence assault and domestic violence criminal threatening, tampering with a victim, tampering with a witness and violation of bail.
