ALFRED, Maine — A 27-year-old New Hampshire man has pleaded not guilty to murder in the death of his former fiancee from Maine.
Jason Twardus of Rochester, N.H., was arraigned Thursday morning in York County Superior Court in Alfred.
Twardus is charged in the death of 30-year-old Kelly Gorham of Alfred, who disappeared in August 2007. Her body was found a month later in a shallow grave on property owned by Twardus’ father in northern New Hampshire.
Twardus was arrested this month after Maine grand jury indicted him for murder.
Twardus, who is represented by Portland attorney Dan Lilley, is being held without bail in the York County Jail. A bail hearing has not been scheduled.
