Maine Guard unit headed to Afghanistan

BANGOR, Maine — Another Maine Army National Guard unit is headed for Afghanistan.

A send-off ceremony for members of the 286th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion will be held Saturday at Bangor High School’s Peakes Auditorium.

The 82 soldiers will deploy for one year in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The 2 p.m. ceremony is open to the public.
