ROCKLAND, Maine — Icy road conditions were blamed for a two-car, head-on accident in Rockland on Saturday night which sent one driver to the hospital.
Sgt. Jeffrey McLaughlin of the Rockland Police Department said a 1993 Acura, driven by James Amaral, 22, of New Bedford, Mass., slid on an icy corner on Waldo Avenue about 8:15 p.m.
Amaral’s car slid into the northbound travel lane and struck a 2004 Hyundai operated by Moira Burke, 21, of Gloucester, Mass.
The impact sent Amaral to Pen Bay Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening. Burke was not injured.
The vehicles had about $5,000 in damage each. Officer John Bagley is the investigating officer.
No charges were filed.
