Fugitive from Missouri arrested in Lincolnville

LINCOLVILLE, Maine — A fugitive from Missouri was arrested without incident at an apartment house on Heal Road on Wednesday night.

Leslie Duecaster, 32, of Olean, Mo., was wanted for a parole violation and Missouri authorities indicated they would extradite him to his home state. Duecaster was on parole after being convicted for the possession and manufacture of a controlled substance.

Waldo County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Robert Keating said Detective Merl Reed received information that Duecaster might be living in the Lincolnville area and opened an investigation. When Reed learned of Duecaster’s whereabouts, he contacted Missouri authorities and they urged him to arrest the fugitive.

Keating said that when Reed and Deputy James Greeley knocked on the apartment door at 10:30 p.m., Duecaster answered and immediately identified himself.

“When the officers said they had a warrant for his arrest, he said, ‘I knew it was coming,’ and surrendered without incident,” Keating said Thursday. Duecaster is being held at the Waldo County Jail.
