EXETER, Maine — Tressa Gudroe, 42, a familiar face for Exeter residents, recently was hired as town manager.

The Dexter woman served as town manager for three years starting in 2004 before she left for a job in the private sector in Bangor. Before serving Exeter, Gudroe served as Corinna’s town clerk for two years and was tax collector before that.

Peter Wintle, the former town manager, resigned to take a position with Kennebec Valley CAP.

“I miss the municipality work and the people,” Gudroe said of the reason for her return.

First Selectman James Crane said Thursday that Gudroe was selected from six applicants and her salary was set at $37,400 a year.

“She has an extensive background in municipal work,” Crane said. “We’re looking forward to working with her again.”
