Leavins set to kick off talk series

Merryspring Nature Center in Camden will kick off its nine-part Tuesday Brown Bag Winter Talk Series on Jan. 13 with a presentation on winter camping and travel by Stephen Leavins.

Leavins, the director of Maine Sport’s outdoor adventure program, is a Registered Maine Guide and a member of the Professional Climbing Instructors Association. He has experience mountaineering and winter camping in New England, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina and Nepal, and regularly leads climbing and mountaineering trips in the White Mountains and Baxter State Park.

Leavins’ presentation begins at noon at the Ross Center.

Merryspring members and all children are admitted free to the talk series, while nonmembers will pay $5.
