Teenager leadership events set in County

CARIBOU, Maine — Two “ATLC Weekend” programs have been scheduled on two Saturdays in January for students in grades six through eight in the St. John Valley.

“ATLC Weekends” are a part of the Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp program, an adolescent drug prevention and leadership development program sponsored by Aroostook Mental Health Services Inc.

ATLC Weekends consist of team-building activities and workshops on topics for adolescents, such as decision making and assertiveness. Each ATLC Weekend is presented by a team of Aroostook County adolescents who have attended an ATLC summer leadership camp. Pizza and drinks are provided for lunch, along with healthful snacks during the day.

ATLC Weekends have been scheduled at Madawaska Middle-High School on Saturday, Jan. 17, and at Fort Kent Elementary School on Saturday, Jan. 24. Each event is from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The ATLC Weekend at Madawaska is open to students in grades six through eight in Madawaska and SAD 33. The ATLC Weekend at Fort Kent is open to all SAD 27 students in grades six through eight.

Registration materials are available from Ms. Ari Kelly at Madawaska Middle-High School, and from Ms. Tammy Bernier at SAD 27. There is no charge to either students or schools for this program.
