Star light, star bright, first heavenly body I see tonight is one of any number of fabulous stars, planets, comets and other galactic denizens on display during a show at the Maynard F. Jordan Planetarium on the UMaine campus in Orono. The planetarium offers three public shows this January, including “Ring World,” exploring the rings of Saturn; “Our Place in Space,” which pinpoints humans in relation to the rest of the universe; and “Destination: Pluto,” exploring all the parts of our solar system, from the sun to the recently demoted dwarf planet, Pluto. “Ring World” plays at 7 p.m. Jan. 2, 9, 19, 23 and 30; “Our Place in Space” at 7 p.m. Jan. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31, and “Destination: Pluto” at 2 p.m. Jan. 4, 11, 18 and 25. Admission is $3; for details, visit www.galaxymaine.com.
