LINCOLN – Beulah Louise Ireland, 90, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 29, 2008, in Lincoln, as the result of a tragic accident. Beulah was born Sept. 4, 1918, in Lagrange, the daughter of Harold and Nettie (Smart) Lancaster. Her family was her life. She always knit mittens for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and kept everyone supplied with her famous molasses cookies. She loved playing Scrabble and was very good at completing the Bangor Daily News crossword puzzle every day. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Wallace; two daughters, Jeanette Shorey and Nancy Ireland; and a sister, Bessie Ireland. She is survived by four children, Joanne McIntyre and her husband, Phil, Douglas Ireland and his wife, Shari, Rosalyn Scammon and her husband, Vic, and Michael Ireland and his wife, Marscella; 27 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her special friend, Josephine Loupin; many nieces and nephews. Special thanks from her family to Terry and Paul for keeping a watchful eye over her through the years. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating. Spring interment will be at South Lincoln Cemetery. There will be a gathering at the Knights of Columbus Hall after the funeral service.
