PALMYRA, Maine — Slippery road conditions early Tuesday were blamed for an accident on Interstate 95 that injured a Carmel woman.

Joan Small, 74, lost control of her late model Cadillac about 7:45 a.m. at mile marker 156 southbound, rolled it over and was trapped inside after the car landed on its roof, according to Maine State Police Trooper Jon Brown.

Brown said a Newport Fire Department Rescue crew cut the car apart to remove Small and she was taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield. She was treated for head, back, neck and knee injuries.

Also going to the crash were Trooper Brenda Coolen, Warden William Chandler and Pittsfield Fire Department.
