Presque Isle 7, Hampden 6

At Brewer’s Penobscot Ice Arena, junior left wing Mitch Davis collected a hat trick, including two third-period goals and junior center and linemate Brennen Shaw had a goal and four assists as Presque Isle improved to 2-3-1. Hampden Academy fell to 0-5. Shaw and Davis scored 1:38 apart early in the third period to build PI’s lead to 6-3 and, after Nick Pease scored for Hampden Academy, Davis scored what proved to be the game-winner by batting home the rebound of a Connor Shaw slapper set up by brother Brennen’s cross-ice pass. Dylan Collins had a pair of goals and Steve Ford had a pair of assists for the Wildcats and Isaac Lajoie had the other goal. Davis had an assist to go with his three goals. Josh MacFarline finished with 26 saves. Josh Tardiff, Cody McAllister and Pease had two goals apiece for the Broncos. Tardiff had a pair of assists with McAllister and Pease collecting one each. Jacob Ward made 39 saves.

Houlton-Hodgdon 4, York 3

At Millar Civic Center, Houlton, Houlton-Hodgdon held on to a 4-0 lead to defeat York. York scored three goals in the final 5:46 to pull within a goal. Ashir Abouleish, Elliot Mooers and Avery McGuire scored in the first period for the 2-3-1 Blackhawks. Morgan Hall added a goal in the third. Seven players recorded assists. David Figlioli scored two goals and assisted on the other for 2-2 York. Dylan Merritt provided an assist and scored the last goal with 46 seconds remaining. Malik Abouleish saved 21 of 24 shots for Houlton-Hodgdon while York’s Alex Ahrikenchikh stopped 20 of 24 shots.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Presque Isle 62, John Bapst 29

At the Bangor Auditorium, the Presque Isle Wildcats made their first five shots from the field and took a 12-0 lead en route to their fifth consecutive victory. Russ Mortland hit two 3-point field goals during the early run, which also included a basket and two free throws from Ethan Braley and a jumper by Nate Ackerson. Presque Isle (6-1) moved out to a 20-4 lead by the end of the first quarter and held a 35-8 cushion at halftime. Ackerson finished with 18 points and Mortland 13 for the Wildcats. Derek Smith scored seven points for 0-6 John Bapst of Bangor, which made just 8 of 48 shots from the field.

Old Town 44, Foxcroft 38

At Dover-Foxcroft, junior guard Luke Bartlett went 9-for-9 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to help Old Town defeat Foxcroft Academy on Saturday. Bartlett led the Coyotes with 22 points. Josh Boucher had 15 points and 15 rebounds. Ryan Stroud paced the Ponies with 16 points.

Woodland 61, Shead 45

At Eastport, Ben Sears hit three 3-pointers on his way to 14 second-quarter points, spearheading a 29-15 surge that carried the Dragons to victory. Sears finished with a game-high 22 points to pace Woodland, while Aaron St. Pierre drained five 3-pointers on his way to 19 points. Wayne Clossey tallied 13 points to lead Shead, while Tyler Mitchell pulled down 13 rebounds.

Machias 81, East Grand 47

At Machias, Ty Richards scored 18 points as Machias beat East Grand of Danforth. Michael Jenkins had 13 points for the Bulldogs. T.J. Spencer added 11 points. Kaleb Dicker paced East Grand with 18 points as Abe Brittain chipped in 11 points.

Stearns 76, Piscataquis 33

At Millinocket, sophomore Brandon McLaughlin shot 12-for-12 from the free-throw line and scored 24 points as the Minutemen remained undefeated. Garen Manzo scored 12 points, all in the third quarter, to help Stearns pull away. Nolan Lovell paced Piscataquis of Guilford with eight points.

Mattanawcook 55, Central 30

At Corinth, Brady Vose scored 17 points as Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln defeated Central. Kane McKinnon scored 10 points for the Lynx. Joey Brown led the Red Devils with seven points.

Easton 65, GHCA 36

At the University of Maine-Presque Isle, Brad Trask connected for 19 points to power the Bears to victory. Sam Bacon scored 11 points for Easton. Chad Duff paced Greater Houlton Christian Academy with 14 points.

Washington Acad. 63, GSA 44

At Blue Hill, Ben Teer scored 16 points to lift unbeaten Washington Academy of East Machias past George Stevens Academy. Matthew Smith had 14 points for the Raiders and Noah Von Rotz added 13 points. Nick Saunders led the Eagles with 18 points. Rashad Frazier had 12 points and 14 rebounds and Nick Doolittle scored 10 points.

Sumner 63, Jonesport-Beals 46

At East Sullivan, Sumner out scored Jonesport-Beals 26-14 in the fourth quarter to claim victory. Senior Chris Weaver had 18 points and 20 rebounds to lead the Tigers. Dan Leighton scored 16 points and Woody Huber chipped in 13 points. Matt Alley paced the Royals with 14 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Foxcroft Academy 47, Dexter 28

At Dexter on Saturday, Vanessa Lougee scored seven of her game-high 18 points in the second quarter as Foxcroft Academy outscored Dexter 15-6 en route to the victory. Lougee had eight more in the third period as FA expanded its lead to 36-20. Sabrina Sharrow had 10 points for the winners, who outscored Dexter 18-3 from the foul line. Miranda Gove and Claire Wyman combined for 13 points to pace the Tigers.

John Bapst 48, Presque Isle 29

At the Bangor Auditorium, Samantha Gormley totaled 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead John Bapst to victory over Presque Isle. Kirsty Moriarty scored 11 points for the Crusaders and Samantha Maquillan chipped in four assists and four steals. Kayla Legassie led the Wildcats with nine points.

Houlton 56, Lee Acad. 41

At Houlton, Vanessa Sanderson scored 14 of her team-high 21 points in the fourth quarter as the Shiretowners pulled away for their fourth victory. Lainey Herring added 10 points and 10 steals for Houlton, while Desiree Dow also scored 10 points. Morgan McGraw led Lee with 21 points.

Machias 57, East Grand 42

At Machias, Danielle Wormell scored eight of her 24 points in the second quarter to help push Machias past East Grand of Danforth. Fayranne Lipton added 10 points for the Bulldogs. Kelsey Daoust led East Grand with 28 points. Tisheena Roy scored 10 points.

Gr. Houlton Chr. 41, Easton 28

At the University of Maine-Presque Isle, Kasi Parker scored eight points in the fourth quarter and Mariah Wiley tallied seven in the period as the Eagles pulled away. Parker finished with a game-high 14 points and Wiley scored 13 for Greater Houlton Christian Academy. Marissa Parlin led Easton with eight points.

Hermon 44, Foxcroft 41

At Dover-Foxcroft, Hermon out scored Foxcroft Academy 18-10 in the fourth quarter to pull ahead and win. Marissa Kelly scored 11 of her 19 points in the fourth to pace Hermon. Vanessa Lougee scored 15 points for the Ponies. Meghan Keane and Sabrina Sharrow scored 12 points apiece.
