The Associated Press

VINALHAVEN, Maine — Maine state police are investigating the death of a 2-year-old from the island community of Vinalhaven in Knox County.

The state medical examiner’s office confirms the child’s body was brought to the Augusta office Saturday night. An autopsy is expected Sunday.

Steve McCausland of the Maine Department of Public Safety says the child’s body was found in a crib.

He says state police detectives investigate all deaths of children under 3. Investigators have not released names or other details.
