BANGOR, Maine — The staff of Hollywood Slots Hotel and Raceway is making Christmas brighter for 50 children ranging in age from 1 month to 17 years.

An Angel Tree was put up in the Hollywood Slots on Main Street in Bangor, as well as at Bangor Raceway, and within days all 50 Angel tags were spoken for, giving 50 children just what they asked for this holiday season.

Staff picked tags off the tree and fulfilled the wishes written on them, coming through with more than $1,000 in gifts ranging from $25 gift certificates to art sets.

For three years running, Hollywood Slots has displayed Angel Trees in support of Community Care, a Bangor-based nonprofit agency that provides comprehensive services and support to children, families and adults dealing with mental health problems or poverty or both throughout the state.

Hollywood Slots supports many other area organizations, events and nonprofit companies year-round, giving some $100,000 during 2008.
