Forecasters say a rapid-fire series of snow storms are on the way after a fast-moving storm crossed the state Wednesday, dropping up to half a foot of snow and testing motorists’ winter driving skills.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Bob Marine said an active weather system should result in a series of snow storms that virtually guarantee a white Christmas.
Marine said another storm is expected to arrive Friday afternoon, but it could track south and bring only small snowfall amounts to southern areas and spare central and northern Maine.
A more significant storm — a nor’easter — is forecast to arrive Sunday afternoon and last into Monday.
Marine said the potential is there for yet another nor’easter to arrive on Christmas Eve and last into Christmas day.
