CARIBOU – Walter Lister, 76, went to his final resting place Nov. 29, 2008, in Frenchville, after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 7, 1932, in Caribou, son of the late Albert and Marion (Weston) Lister. Walter was self employed and also delivered firewood in the Caribou area for many years. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was married to Elizabeth “Betty” (Violette) Lister, who predeceased him in 1982. Walter loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a man who knew what a hard days work was, and was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed making people laugh and always left them with a smile on their face. Walter loved to dance and will now be dancing with Betty on Saturday nights forever. He is survived by his six children, Allyn Lister and his wife, Cheryl, Rick Lister and his wife, Patricia, Terry Lister and his wife, Rhonda, all of Caribou, Sherry Guerrette and her husband, Jim, Lori Fowle and her husband, Evert, and Evans Lister and his wife, Heather, all of Vassalboro; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The family thanks the staff of St. Joseph Nursing Home, Frenchville, for providing Walter with excellent care and comfort, and a special thanks to Dr. Suchan and Dr. Yang for their guidance, care and compassion during this difficult time. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
