BUCKSPORT – Annette D. Valenoti, 79, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Nov. 8, 2008. She passed away at her home surrounded by the family she loved. Her death came after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born Aug. 12, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of John T. and Anna (Ludwig) Davey. After graduating from high school in 1947, Annette was employed by the national office of Delta Upsilon Fraternity, Madison Avenue, New York City. She married Robert Valenoti Sr., Sept. 1, 1951. She and Bob raised four children in the same Malverne, N.Y. home where she spent her childhood years. In the early 1960s, the family vacationed through coastal New England and fell in love with Maine. Annette and her husband became owners of Masthead Campground, Bucksport, and spent summers building the business. They would later move to Maine and retire to the community they loved. The business remained in continuous operation for 42 years until Annette’s sickness forced closure. Annette was active in many community organizations. Annette was involved, and in the past, held various offices at Maine Cooperative Extension Service on the local, county and state levels. She was very active in the Duck Cove Extension Homemakers and was a member and treasurer of Duck Cove Community Club. She was a devoted member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and its many organizations. Annette’s interests included volunteering as a reader at Miles Lane School, quilting, sewing, crossword puzzles, gardening and travel. She cherished her time spent with family, church, campground and community friends. Annette is survived by her four loving children, Robert Valenoti Jr. and his wife, Deborah, of Orland, Thomas Valenoti and his wife, Lorraine, Doris Daily and her husband, Ray, and Christine Goode and her husband, Randy, all of Bucksport. She also leaves nine grandchildren, Alicia Handy, Katie Harmon, Claire and Michael Valenoti, Christy Leeman, Aimee and Jessie Daily, and Keri and Amanda Goode. She is loved and will be missed by her eight great-grandchildren. Annette was predeceased by her parents, loving husband of 47 years, Robert; one brother, Arthur; and two sisters, Eleanor and Doris. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Friday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 540 Essex St., Bangor, with Rev. Elaine Hewes officiating. Interment will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Hillside Cemetery, Bucksport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 540 Essex St., Bangor, ME 04401 or Hospice of Hancock County, 14 McKenzie Ave., Ellsworth, ME 04605.
