BANGOR – Mary Catharine Grant, wife of the late Louis C. Grant, died peacefully Oct. 30, 2008, at a Bangor health care center. She was born in Bangor, the daughter of Robert E. and Katherine (McCarthy) Augherton. Kay graduated from Bangor High School. She retired from New England Telephone and Telegraph with almost 40 years of service. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bangor and a life member of Telephone Pioneers of America. Kay and Louis enjoyed traveling and had several memorable trips to Europe, the Bahamas, Nova Scotia and Florida. Kay is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Lou; her parents; a dear aunt, Ella Caughey; a brother, Howard; and two sisters, Pauline Foley and Barbara Myatt. Kay was lovingly cared for by the staff at Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the past four years. Calling hours will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will be afterward in the Augherton family lot at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. Memorial contributions in Kay’s memory may be made to the Activity Fund at Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, care of Kim Brown, 103 Texas Ave., Bangor, ME 04401.
