GLENBURN – Cary MacDonald Comer, 59, died peacefully Oct. 28, 2008, at home after a long and valiant battle with cancer. He was born in Bangor, the son of George and Frankie Comer of Springfield, Mass. Cary grew up in Springfield, Mass., but returned to Maine to earn a degree in music from the University of Maine, Orono. Known for his musical talent, Cary began his career as the band director for the Searsport High School Band, Searsport, and later opened, owned and operated “Coastal Music.” Cary loved his family and his music, which brought much happiness to others. He was an avid Red Sox fan. A very happy spirit with a quick wit, Cary loved life and lived it to the fullest. He will be missed by so many, including faithful pets, Hannah and Shyloh. His children will miss his Christmas cookies and holiday jingles. In addition to his parents, Cary is survived by his best friend, Mary Morris of Glenburn; daughters, Jennifer Erin Corneil and her husband, Christopher, of Hermon and Jodie Knapp Comer of Manchester, Conn.; son, Joshua MacDonald Comer of Orono; mother of his children, Sonia King of Brewer; brothers, Christopher Comer of Manchester, Conn., and Craig Comer of Enfield, Conn.; plus cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter, Jamie Foss Comer. A private celebration of Cary’s life will be held. Arrangements are under the care of Memorial Alternatives, 205 Center St., Bangor.
