EDDINGTON – Nicholas Aiden Laplante was born 8:09 a.m. Aug. 17, 2007, to Deric Laplante and Christina Giorgi. At 8:15 p.m. Oct. 8, 2008, Nicholas earned his angel wings in his mother’s and father’s arms with his eyes closed and his heart open. Nicky had battled a very rare brain cancer since July, but even through it all he had a smile and brought joy to all our lives with his smile and his Popeye face. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his big sister, “second mother,” Selenia Giorgi, he will be sadly missed by her; maternal grandmother, Patricia Sprague; maternal great-grandmother, Anna Sprague; maternal grandfather, Victor Giorgi; paternal grandparents, Eddie and Stephanie Cossette; paternal grandfather, David Laplante; paternal great-grandmothers, Marie Hatch and Catherine Laplante; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and very, very close friends. The family thanks everyone for their prayers, love and support through these painful times. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at St. John’s Catholic Church, York Street, Bangor, with the Rev. Seamus Griesbach, celebrant. Interment will be at Jonathan Eddy Cemetery, Eddington. Gifts in memory of Nicky may be sent to the Nicholas Laplante Fund, P.O. Box 184, Eddington, ME 04428.
