ELIZABETH ‘BETTY’ (OBER) CLARK

ELLSWORTH – Elizabeth “Betty” (Ober) Clark passed away Oct. 8, 2008, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Ellsworth. She was born Dec. 6, 1941, in Brewer, the daughter of Merritt T. Ober and Frances (Smith) Ober. Betty graduated from Ellsworth High School in June 1960. In July 1960, she married Bruce Clark. They have two sons, Wayne Alan Clark and Jeffrey Dale Clark. Betty worked at Strong’s Craft Gallery for a number of years. She was employed at The Ellsworth American for 25 years. Betty enjoyed raising flowers, vegetable gardens, working in the yard around the house, and watching the birds in the yard at Bayside. She also enjoyed many loving pets throughout the years. Betty is survived by her loving husband, Bruce; sons, Wayne and his wife, Robin (Hitchcock) Clark and son, Tony Brenton, of Ellsworth; Jeff and his wife, Bethany (Fogg) Clark and sons, Steven Wayne Clark and Jeffrey Dale Clark II, of Raymond; and two half sisters, Avis Cowperthwaite of Birch Harbor and Elsie Davis of Ellsworth. She was predeceased by her mom and dad. The family wishes to extend thanks to the doctors and nurses of Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Eastern Maine Medical Center and The Lahey Clinic. A memorial service will be announced by Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations to Union Congregational Church, P.O. Box 997, Ellsworth, ME 04605 or the SPCA, 141 Bar Harbor Road, Trenton, ME 04605. “Remember me with laughter and love, for that is how I will remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears and sadness, then don’t remember me at all.”
