Tremont man indicted on drug charges

ELLSWORTH, Maine — A Tremont man was indicted Wednesday by a Hancock County grand jury on drug charges stemming from an incident this summer in which he was caught by police with several pounds of marijuana and $10,000 in cash.

William Thomas, 50, of Tremont, was indicted on charges of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and trafficking in dangerous knives.

Police have said they allegedly found three-quarters of a pound of marijuana and $1,000 in cash in Thomas’ car during a traffic stop in Tremont in early June. They also have said that during a subsequent search of Thomas’ home, they found four more pounds of marijuana, more than $9,000 in additional cash, prescription narcotics and a loaded semiautomatic rifle.

Thomas has a prior drug conviction from 2001, police said at the time of his arrest in June.

Berwyn E. Astbury, 43, Sedgwick, criminal threatening, terrorizing.

Elwood K. Carter, 42, Ellsworth, assault.

Devin M. Chambers, 19, Bucksport, burglary, theft.

Matthew A. Eaton, 44, Deer Isle, eluding an officer, criminal speeding, driving to endanger, violating condition of release, operating a motor vehicle after suspension.

Jesse B. Foster, 29, Ellsworth, aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

Jacob E. Gaspar, 19, Deer Isle, burglary, stealing drugs, criminal mischief.

Walker R. Gaspar, 20, Stonington, burglary, stealing drugs, criminal mischief, violating condition of release.

Tyler J. Haas, 19, Penobscot, eluding an officer, driving to endanger.

Joshua R. Hallock, 27, Trenton, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicants, operating beyond license condition or restriction.

David M. Hudson, 24, Franklin, burglary, theft, operating a motor vehicle after revocation, violating condition of release.

Sheri L. Hutchinson, 38, Steuben, aggravated forgery, operating a motor vehicle after revocation, improper plates.

Kerry A. Jones, 57, Stonington, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicants, operating a motor vehicle after suspension.

Joseph V. Malta 28, Bucksport, burglary, theft.

Kerri L. Micue, 38, Skowhegan, negotiating a worthless instrument.

Stephen C. Riddle, 29, Trenton, aggravated assault, assault.

Aaron Rowe, 19, Bucksport, burglary, theft.

Patrick S. Seavey, 38, Trenton, criminal threatening, reckless conduct, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, threatening display of weapon, violating condition of release.

Clifford L. Strout, 59, Yarmouth, burglary of a motor vehicle, theft, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicants.
