PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Mercy Hospital is setting up a memorial fund to benefit the 2-year-old daughter of a hospital security guard who was fatally shot while working.
Mercy Hospital officials announced Monday the creation of a fund in honor of 27-year-old James Angelo, who was gunned down in the early morning of Sept. 7 in the hospital parking lot while returning from a break.
Police are searching for two assailants.
Hospital officials say Angelo was committed to the safety and security of patients and staff, and will be remembered for his soft-spoken manner and warm smile.
Contributions, which will benefit Angelo’s daughter, Elizabeth, may be mailed to the James Angelo Memorial Fund, Mercy Hospital, Attention Cashier’s Office, 144 State St., Portland 04101.
