ORONO, Maine — Former Greely of Cumberland Center track standout Ben True had a homecoming of sorts Saturday morning and couldn’t have made much more of it.
True finished first in the men’s 5-mile run as family and friends looked on at the University of Maine’s 17th annual Murray Keatinge Invitational cross-country race with a time of 26 minutes, 51.31 seconds. He also led his Dartmouth College team to the team title as well. The Big Green easily outdistanced runner-up Yale by 26 points.
In the women’s 5-kilometer race, the University of New Hampshire’s Kim Povec finished the course with a time of 18:05.38 to take the individual title, but the team victory went to the Duke University Blue Devils, who placed four runners in the top 11.
