Groups gear up to keep seniors warm


BELFAST, Maine — Waldo County TRIAD is partnering with several community organizations to help keep the county’s senior citizens warm this winter.

The Palermo Christian Church, Monroe Community Extension, Winterport Women’s Club, Jolly Neighbors Senior Citizens Group and the Waldo County YMCA are assisting with the effort.

TRIAD is collecting donations of coats, hats, shawls, heavy socks and sweaters at locations throughout the county. After the warm clothes are collected, they will be cleaned and distributed to senior citizens who need them.

Donation boxes will be placed in front of the following locations: Palermo Christian Church, Monroe Town Office, Varney Building in Brooks, Searsport Public Safety Building, Winterport Town Office, Belfast Adult Education Center, Waldo County YMCA, Spectrum Generations in Belfast and Prospect Town Office.
