BAR HARBOR – William Alphonsus Casey, 86, died Jan. 22, 2004, at MDI Hospital with family members by his side. He was born Nov. 9, 1917, in Calais, the son of William and Genevieve (Fitzsimmons) Casey. Bill was a longtime barber for more than 60 years in Bar Harbor. He was a popular musician in local bands for many years, playing in the town band and for dancing at the Casino, the Bar Harbor Inn and the Wonderview Hotel. Bill was a lover of musical harmony and an enthusiastic gardener. He was a faithful member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Bill was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Eleanore (Jamison) Casey; four daughters, Judith Cox of Southwest Harbor, Nancy Montserrat of Rumson, N.J., Mary Jordan of Quincy, Mass., and Teresa Duhamel of Scarborough; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A memorial will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at Holy Redeemer Parish Hall, Bar Harbor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father John O’Hara and Father James Gower officiating. Spring interment will be at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Bar Harbor. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 21 Ledgelawn Ave., Bar Harbor, ME 04609.
