BIRCH HARBOR – Vinton “Vint” M. Chipman, 77, passed away June 4, 2007, after a brief illness. He was born Nov. 17, 1929, in Wyman, the son of the late Edgar and Minnie (Beal) Chipman. He was a member of the Winter Harbor Masonic Lodge and Anah Temple Shriners. Vinton worked all of his life as a lobster fisherman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Vinton is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Alice (Bunker) Chipman; children, Jane Haycock and husband, John, of Birch Harbor, Annie Award and husband, David, of Gouldsboro, Mildred S. Chipman of Oregon, Del Chipman, and Lou Ann Brenton and husband, Stephen, all of Birch Harbor; grandsons, Paul, Douglas, Robert, David, Timothy, and Stephen; granddaughters, Victoria, Ashley, Elizabeth, and Kitty “Sis;” several great-grandchildren; brothers, Avery Chipman and wife, Estelle, Leamon Chipman, Maynard Chipman and wife, Annabelle, George Chipman and wife, Becky, Bert Chipman and wife, Betty, Herb Chipman; a special sister, Mildred “Sis” Crowley; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Roger Martin and Fred T.; beloved dogs, Lucy and Peanut “My Good Boy;” and cat, Tom. He will sadly missed by his sternman and grandson, “Little T.” Vinton was predeceased by two sons, Edgar E. Chipman, in 1952 and Edgar E. Chipman, in 2001. Vint will also be sadly missed by his girlfriends at the Gouldsboro Clinic. Visiting hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 7, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Milbridge, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 8, officiated by Pastor Owen Beal. Burial will be after at Birch Harbor Cemetery.
