BELFAST – Vera M. Howes, 96, of Belfast, died April 4, 2005, at a local health care facility. Born Oct. 24, 1908, in Liberty, she was the daughter of Clarence and Hattie (Davis) Howes. Vera attended Belfast schools and graduated from Crosby High School. She worked for many years as a Practical Nurse in Portland. She was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and Leroy Howes. Vera is survived by one niece, Irene Hilson of Etna; and one nephew, Ronald Howes of Bucksport. Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 6. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at Rackliffe Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Sears-mont, in the spring.
