EDDINGTON – Todd Aaron Mitchell, 34, died surrounded by his loving family after a long, courageous and brave battle with cancer, Thursday, March 13, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Jan. 8, 1974, in Bangor, the son of Glenn Mitchell and Judy (Drew) Calder. Todd had a passion for the wilderness and extreme sport-ing, including ice climbing, mountain biking, hiking, four-wheeling, running 5k races and climbing 14ers. He also loved his Cat-Trax snowmobile race team and teammates. Todd graduated from the University of Maine School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 2000 and worked at Eastern Maine Medical Center for many years before becoming a traveling nurse, working and making friends in many locations across the country. Todd is survived by his parents, Glenn Mitchell of Veazie and Judy (Drew) Calder of Eddington; sisters, Michele “Shelly” Mitchell of Holden and Holly Chapman of Holden; love of his life; Christina Hyatt of Loveland, Colo.; grandmother, Barbara Drew of Brewer; brothers-in-law, Stephen Hodgins and Richard Chapman; nephews, Mitchell and Joel Hodgins; nieces, Molly and Ally Chapman; a special cousin, Chuck Porter; special friends, Mark and Lyle; many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends; and a special golden retriever, Danica “Muffin.” He was predeceased by his grandparents, Grace Mitchell and Norman Drew. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 1-4 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, March 17, with the Rev. Roger Tracy, pastor at East Eddington Community Church, officiating. After the service there will be a reception at 79 Merrill Road, Eddington.
