THRESEA ELLIS DEAN

BANGOR – Thresea E. Dean, 85, died peacefully amongst family Jan. 30, 2004, after a brief illness. She was born Dec. 14, 1918, in Derby, the daughter of Perley and Ruth Ellis. She attended Milo High School and moved to Washington D.C. after graduation in 1937, where she met and married Henry Arnold Thies, on Aug. 3, 1938. Thresea was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her happiest times were spent square-dancing with Henry, crocheting and doing needle point, playing cards and doing puzzles with friends, line-dancing with her daughter, Darla, teaching her granddaughters how to cook, and spending time at her camp on Pushaw Lake in Glenburn with family and friends. She was a great lover of flowers, especially the gladiola. She won many awards for her crocheting and square dancing. Thresea was predeceased by Henry Thies, Arnold Dean, her second husband; her daughter, Darla Higgs; and her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sons, Larry Thies and his friend, Shirley Boynton, and Cliff Thies; three granddaughters, Angelique Thies Grado and her husband, Sergio, Annette Higgs and her husband, Steve Vukovan, and Melanie Welton and her husband, Roger; great-grandchildren Roger, Randy, Rachel and Reed; a special niece, Lorraine Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. Thresea was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. At the request of the deceased there will be no formal gatherings. Those wishing to make memorial gifts may make a donation to the American Heart Association in the name of Thresea E. Dean.
