SHIRLEY M. (DENNISON) JOHNSTON BANGOR and WHITING Shirley M. (Dennison) Johnston, wife of the late Bob Johnston, died Aug. 23, 2007, at her residence in Bangor. She was born March 2, 1930, in Patten, the daughter of Leon J. and Thelma (Burrill) Mitchell. Shirley had been active in the Garden Club Federation at all levels, including president of Tri Town Garden Club, director of St. Croix District and treasurer of State Federation. She is survived by four sons, Steven and wife, Mary K., of Vermont, Paul and wife, Shirley, of Ellsworth, David and wife, Celeste, of Lamoine and Allen of Bangor; six grand-daughters, Claire, Laura, Jea-nne, Kristi, Rachel and Alanna; two grandsons, Travis and Dante; one great-grandson, Devlin; two brothers, Galen Mitchell and wife, Marie, and Roger Mitchell and wife, Gloria; sister, Eileen Decoteau and husband, Henry; a special friend, Joe Raymond; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her first husband of 48 years, Bernard A. Dennison. Shirley requested there not be a funeral service, but instead, there be a celebration of her life for family and friends to be announced at a later date.
