SARAH E. ‘BETTY’ KELSEY

BANGOR – Sarah E. “Betty” (Harriman) Kelsey, 77, died March 10, 2007, after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 28, 1929, in Brewer, the daughter of Harold S. and Clara (Morrill) Harriman. Betty was employed by Zayre, until the time of her retirement and was an expert seamstress. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, traveling and spending time with family. Betty was married to Eugene F. Kelsey for 53 years, until the time of his death, Dec. 7, 2003. She is survived by a son, Carl Kelsey and wife, Tracy, of Hampden; seven daughters, Karen Dunn, Marie Kelsey and Beverly Kelsey, all of Bangor, Sylvia Oxley and husband, Stevie, of Carmel, Paula Burkholder and husband, Tim, of Latrobe, Pa., Carol Henderson and fiance, Ed Bolduc, of South Portland and Tracy Ronan and husband, John, of Glenburn; 17 grandchildren, Erik Dunn and wife, Jennifer, Tina, Steven and Joey Oxley, Kori and Nichole Dionne, Josh, Justin, Jarred, Jeremy and Emily Kelsey, Sean Rash and Kelcie Burkholder, Christina and A.J. Hunnewell and Kate-lynn and Taylor Ronan; four great-grandchildren, Alyssa Dunn, Destry Oxley-Stahl, Alexis Johnson and Autumn Hoff; a sister, Marguerite Peterson of Brewer, several nieces and nephews; special friend, Becky Joy. A celebration of Betty’s life will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. Rex Garrett, Director of Chaplaincy Services of Eastern Maine Medical Center, officiating. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the service.
